Gentle, non-violent, beginnings
The experience of childbirth is a daily miracle in the midst of our lives. All of us experience it but few remember it. For women, bringing new life into the world can and should be the most profoundly loving experience of her entire life. Thankfully, in this last 50 years or so it has also become an experience which fathers share in, serving to deepen the bond that is woven in childbirthIn the last 100 years or so childbirth has taken a medical and often surgical turn. This has had, without a doubt, had its benefits – not least in terms of lives saved. Some women, however, have found themselves more detached from the profound and loving experience of giving birth, especially when they have become a passive recipient of medical birthing. Scientific progress has also taught us that the unborn child has a far greater capacity for experience than was believed 100 years ago. The health and wellbeing of the mother, both mentally and physically, could have a profound effect on the unborn child., not only at that developmental stage but in later lifeFortunately, in more recent years, there has been movement towards a more ‘middle road’ approach which has recognised the value of encouraging the mother and father to take an active role in labour and delivery. Hospitals are providing more comfortable, ‘home-like’ environments, returning to the professional expertise of midwives to assist in the safe delivery of the childClick to enter a detailed description of your product or service.
